Description
Debuting as part of Sony Ericsson's new 'Snapshot' range of mobile phones is the Sony Ericsson S302. Marketed as a basic camera phone for those who want to take quick snaps on the go, the Sony Ericsson S302 sports a 2 Megapixel camera and incorporates some of the camera software features only normal available on the Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot range of handsets. It's a 2G quad band GSM phone with a built-in FM radio, Bluetooth A2DP, USB connectivity, 20MB of internal memory and support for an M2 Memory Stick Micro.
The Sony Ericsson S302 is a compact candy bar phone that follows the basic cuboid design of many Sony Ericsson handsets before it. With an anodised effect coating, the handset comes in a choice of two colours, Crystal Blue and Thunder Grey. The Sony Ericsson S302 weighs an ultra light 79g and is very slim at 11mm. The front panel is dominated by the 2" TFT screen which supports 256,000 colours. Resolution is 176 x 220 pixels – pretty low by today's standards – but colours are vibrant, and the screen is legible even in bright sunlight. Below the screen is the stylishly wrought control pad with a circular navigational key, two soft keys and the call and end buttons.
The S302 is a quad band phone covering GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies, which means it can be used globally. There's no 3G, so the fastest data transfer protocol is EDGE, and there's also support for GPRS. Share your photos and video clips with friends and family using Bluetooth or a USB cable. A simple WAP 2.0/xHTML web browser is on board as well as email access and all the usual PIM functions. The Sony Ericsson S302 has been fitted with a standard Li-Ion battery, which will give you up to 7 hours of talktime or 300 hours on standby.
The handset comes with both a music player and FM radio with RDS. The player supports MP3, AAC, WAV, M4A, MP4 and AMR audio formats, and lets you manage playlists, shuffle songs, adjust the audio settings and display album art when the music is playing. TrackID is also included - just play a song into the phone and it will come back with the track title, artist and album name. Once you've identified your favourite tunes you can buy and download direct to your phone using PlayNow.
